2021 Big Chief Cabernet Sauvignon

$115.00

In the Mardi Gras Indian culture, the Big Chief is the leader of the tribe and our 2020 Big Chief Cabernet Sauvignon carries on the tradition from past vintages. The grapes were hand harvested in the early morning of September 26th from a small hillside vineyard in St Helena. The grapes were then hand-sorted and fermented in a small batch to ensure optimal quality. The wine has a deep crimson color with aromas of blackberry, currants, plum, chocolate, and graphite noted first followed by tobacco, baking spices, and vanilla; with a rich, bold mouthfeel and gripping tannins that coat the palate with long finish. This wine is fitting of the Big Chief moniker.

92+ Points Jeb Dunnuck
“Coming from the Brioso Vineyard on Mt. Veeder, its deep purple hue is followed by a gorgeous perfume of both black and blue fruits interwoven with notions of sagebrush, bouquet garni, lavender, and tobacco. Medium-bodied and nicely concentrated on the palate, it has plenty of Mt. Veeder tannins, a layered, balanced mouthfeel, and a gorgeous finish. It needs to be forgotten for 3-4 years, but it’s a classic mountain Cabernet Sauvignon with tons of character. It should have 15+ years of prime drinking.” Jeb Dunnuck May 2024
